Dancing With Tessa Antolini and Longfellow’s

Since I am not hosting Friday night parties for the time being I would like to call ALL of my students to Tessa’s party this Friday for a little dance reunion! I am not the DJ this time but Josh Albert plays a good mix and he takes requests so if you are not hearing what you want you can always get your favorite jam on. Tessa hosts a great group of beginner to intermediate dancers who have not been jaded by the dance scene. Like her, Tessa’s students dance with everyone and are there to have a good time. All the details are in the flyer below. 
Sunday night I am Teaching figures in both Country Two-Step and West Coast Swing. Last week’s lessons are below if you need a refresher on either. See you ALL Friday night!

John Festa Hosts His “Speak Easy” Event At Club JoEllen

Living Legend John Festa has been called the “King of Swing” and he is taking his underground “Speak Easy” event on the road to Longfellow’s Club JoEllen Saturday, October 10th. “Speak Easy’s” were underground clubs known for attracting customers with cheap bathtub gin and musically innovative acts that kept the party going until the wee hours of the morning. Join John Festa as his party starts at 7pm with the first of 2 swing lessons followed by a dance filled with music that you will not be able to keep from dancing to. 

7-8pm (Beginner Friendly Intermediate) John Festa will break down your basics and not only show you where to step but he will explain why. If you learn nothing else that night (impossible) you will be a better dancer after this class.

8-9pm (True Intermediate) John is known for starting his intermediate classes with some basics and then he slow ramps things up. At the end of this class you will not believe what you will be able to accomplish! 

9-? West Coast Swing “Speak Easy” Dance: Forget about the costumes because this dance is ALL about the music. There is something about John Festa’s taste in music and it can all be some up into one word: Drive! 

John has 2 open spots on Sunday afternoon for Private lessons. You must have a dance partner to sign up for these privates. If you would like to take a lesson and do not have a partner please let me know and I may be able to help you find one.

Two More Nights Of Dancing

Tonight is going to be a rocking night of West Coast Swing with lots of new music. Sunday night sees the return of Two-Step to the first class followed by WCS and then an evening of rocking out to the top California Mix DJ in the North East!

Youth Storm Fund Raiser Raises $1,500

When a bank wants to train its staff to recognize counterfeit bills it passes out authentic ones. The more the staff gets accustomed to “real money” the easier it is to recognize the bills that are fake. When I first heard about this training technique it made me think of the philosophy of YouthStorm. 

Imagine the impact of surrounding the lost and broken young adults of this community with authentic people? People of high moral fiber not only tend to flock together but they also tend to be the rising tide that raises the ships around them. 

Right now there is a shortage of people in the world with high moral fiber. People that communicate face to face, that make eye contact while having a conversation, or that convey their character through a firm hand shake, these are the people we need to be cultivating and the YouthStorm program does just that. 

The boat party was a huge success raising about $1500 that will go along way! Thank you to those of you who came and enjoyed the party and thank you to everyone who donated even though they could not make it. You filled my heart with joy by helping me help those in need!

This week continues our Night Club Two-Step series followed by West Coast Swing. There wasn’t time to record the lesson last time but I will make sure it happens this week and will have the review up post haste! Oh…and I am DJing this week and have some new tunes to rock out to ;-)
